Motorcycle racing heroes

I grew up watching the final years of two stroke 500cc GP bikes being ridden by the likes of Mick Doohan, Kenny Roberts Junior and Carlos Checa. The final era of the 500cc machines also hailed the rise of Valentino Rossi within the top class of motorcycle racing on the mighty Honda NSR500 before the teams moved over to the four stroke machines.

This Isle of Man was also alive with the sound of the 750 four cylinder machines in the senior classes with v-twin 1000cc following later with greats like Joey Dunlop OBE on the Honda SP1. We also mustn’t forget the amazing popularity of the World Superbike series with some epic battles between Carl Fogarty MBE , Aaron Slight, Nori Haga and Colin Edwards.
