Heading west to Tofino

After a great two days in in Campbell River it was time to hit the road again and head west to Tofino. Before heading out I checked the weather report and rain was expect on the west coast of the island during the afternoon, so I made my waterproof riding gear easily available before leaving the hotel.

The day started off with bright sunshine along the Campbell River coastline heading towards Coombs, before taking highway 4 west through the mountains. The temperature started drop and the rain clouds moved in as the road started climb through the mountains, so it was time to stop for a break and put on the waterproofs.

I had been given a tip from two motorcyclists I met on the Prince Rupert ferry to visit Uclulete for fish and chips, which is minor detour from my final destination for the day in Tofino. It was still raining when I reached Uclulete in the afternoon, but I did manage to find a nice restaurant serving superb fish and chips.

Suitably refueled I headed south to my hotel in Tofino, and took some time to dry out before heading out for a walk along the beach.  The hotel had a nice hotdog and beer shack on the beach, so after my dinner of fish and chips in Ucluelet a hotdog and a beer would be a good way to round off the evening watching the sun go down.

Before turning in for the evening I checked the weather report, which promised less rain over the mountains and warmer weather on my way to Victoria, and my final destination on the island.
