Yamaha RD250LC
The bike is a German import with matching numbers, I’ve owned the bike for 8 years, but it’s time to let it go. It has 2 previous owners and has covered only 27,900 km (17,437 miles).
The bike looks absolutely superb and rides very well, it always gets lots of comments and interest wherever I go.
As it is now a classic it’s MOT and Tax exempt.
During the time I’ve owned it, I’ve completed a sympathetic restoration and made sure that it’s mechanically sorted as well as looking good.
It has a brand new tank, mudguard, side panels and tailpiece (£600). These were all expertly painted and lacquered by the renowned Mark Cordwell (£600)
The autolube pump was sent to Gary Jones for complete refurbishment as was set up to deliver extra oil to protect the engine.
The carburettors were sent to be sonically cleaned, ball bearings replaced and completely refurbished and overhauled by Dave Whattam (Mutts Nutts 2 Strokes).
The bike has had an expensive electronic ignition fitted and setup on a dyno by Dave Whattam (£532). This is has a much lighter stator and more consistent spark. The dyno shows the bike producing 41bhp. The standard bike produces 36bhp and it’s not far down on the 47bhp of the RD350LC. Dave checked the engine and believes at some point it has high compression pistons fitted.
I have fitted brand new ignition lock, tank lock and seat lock so they all have the same key.
In addition, the headlight has been replaced, along with the clock surround, radiator guard, chain cover, and seat cover. It has a gel battery fitted.
The original airbox had been drilled and this has been replaced by an original one. I’ve also sourced a rear mudguard and the original seat has been recovered.
The wheels, frame and exhausts are totally original which reflected the bikes original good condition.
The tyres are Avon Roadriders and have very few miles on them.
The bike belies it’s 46 years starting first time, and is a joy to ride.
