After all the investigation in to the transmission to identify the knocking, it turned out to be a front wheel bearing that was starting to fail. I’m not sure of the exact circumstances that forced the bearing to fail at the exact point I was experiencing clutch issues, perhaps a bug in the matrix they haven’t figured out yet 😉
The job for next weekend is knocking out the old wheel bearings and installing the new ones purchased from the always awesome John Parker Motorcycles. At least I now know that everything from the clutch to the rear wheel is in good order after inspecting all the parts.
