1974 (M) Honda CB550K0 with V5 and spare engine.
I have had this bikesince 2006 and after initially rebuilding it in 2007 to be a very tidy rider, afew years ago I dismantled it to create some space for my other projects andbegan a slow restoration but unfortunately I have now run out of both space andtime to finish this old girl.
The spare enginesupplied is the original engine as listed on the V5 and was a runner when thebike was dismantled. I sourced another 1974 engine with only 15k miles on itwhich is the one currently in the bike.
The bike willobviously need to be gone through completely but I have rebuilt it to show thatit is mostly there rather than selling boxes of parts. It was never intended tobe a perfect show-pony resto and so the bike carries some age-related patina ona number of parts. There is a mix of new and re-used original parts but themajor features are listed below: –
- Powder coated frame, stands, bottom yoke, engine brackets all in gloss black
- Top yoke, electrics bracket, front brake assembly all in satin black
- Chrome plated rear brake pedal, rear brake rod, rear brake stay
- Vapour blasted and rebuilt engine bottom end and barrels
- New piston rings
- Side panels in original Flake Sunrise Orange paint
- Lots of polished alloy
- Decent tyres
- New nuts, bolts, washers
Work still required:-
- Top end requires cleaning and rebuilding but is all there
- Carbs similar
- Tank is solid but obviously needs paint
- Clocks need a respray but are otherwise in good working order
- Seat lock bracket missed the powder coat run!
- Rear wheel untouched and whilst solid, cosmetically it needs a rebuild
- Master cylinder seal kit required
- Chain and sprox required
- Front wheel was rebuilt with stainless spokes some years ago but the chrome rim now has some pitting
- Original header pipes supplied but that is the only exhaust I have
