Honda VF1000R
Originally a California bike from 1985, it came to me in 2020 as its first UK keeper and was registered here in 2022.
Road-ready and exempt from tax and MOT, although I can arrange a new MOT if required.
The bike is mostly original, apart from fresh paint on the forks and lower fairing, and retains the bumps and scrapes shown in the photos. My minor recommissioning work included replacing the rusted tank with a good used one from a European-market bike, along with new tyres, battery, fork seals and fuel tap. I also replaced the necessary carburettor and brake components, fluids, and installed a good used fuel pump and clutch slave cylinder.
Non-original items include faired-in front indicators, Yamaha rear indicators and a WP remote-adjustable shock. The toolbox has a new lock, so it uses a second key.
Judging by the overall condition and wear on parts such as the brake discs, the mileage appears accurate, but it cannot be verified. All California-specific emissions equipment remains in place. If I had room, I would keep and use it as it is, although others may see it as a good basis for a full restoration.
