Suzuki GT500A – Restoration 98% complete
I built this bike up to show standard and have spent a great deal of time and money on it.
Unfortunately due to ill heath I am unable to finish it.
As you can see from the photos it has been finished to a very high standard.
A brief description of work carried out :
Frame has been blasted and powder coated
New swinging arms bushes and bearings
Crank has been done by Chris Appleby that included balancing
Crank case is polished
Wheels have been respoked in stainless and hubs polished. They are original rims in very good condition and new continental tyres
Fitted
Rechroming to include – Exhausts, mudguards, chain guard, headlamp ears, headlamp bowl, tail lamp support bracket. Kick start, handle bars and gear lever
Carbs have been bead blasted and rebuilt
Tank and side panels professionally painted
Coils reworked by Rex Speed Shop and new CDI fitted
New old stock clocks in Brown
New chain and sprockets
Seat professionally covered
Front caliper reconditioned with new pads, new brake hoses and new master cylinder
A lot of polished stainless steel fasteners used
The air box is not showing in the photos but I have it
Now to list the remaining jobs outstanding :
Kick start does not return on its own
Small 2 stroke oil leak when on the side stand
The carbs and oil pump need setting up
There is a problem with the ignition switch. The bike will not turn off by the ignition switch, only by the kill switch. Not sure what the fault is
I have had the bike running.
