I purchased the bike in 2017 at 12000 miles. The bike was stripped down to the main frame, tank, engine and front forks, and then built back up and virtually every other component replaced with new or low mileage parts. The entire electrical system, was completely replaced, including a new wiring loom and all main electrical components. Front and rear brakes were replaced with new, including braided pipes, as well as running gear like chain and sprockets, new FMF Q4 exhaust, new levers, full lockset, tyres and many, many other parts which I will list, but there will be lots of little parts like clips and brackets that I have not listed.
It had a brand new airbox which was given the 3×3 modification and K&N filter, and the carb was rejetted accordingly with a JD kit.
The bike was finished off with new black plastics and decals copied from my favourite livery, which is an SM colour scheme, although the bike itself is an S.
The bike was fully serviced on completion of the other work and passed its MOT first time and has passed first time every year since with no advisories.
The bike is kept garaged and on permanent trickle charge to keep the battery conditioned and fully charged and it always starts from cold first time, on the button, even if it has been sitting for months. There are no oil, fuel or water leaks whatsoever. The charging system works perfectly and the battery is always still fully charged when I plug the trickle charger back in after a ride.
It rides very well with no problems to note other than some popping on deceleration, which is common with the 3×3 modification and may be possible to improve with some adjustments to jetting.
I have barely used the bike since it was restored, covering at just a few hundred miles per year, fully intending every year to use it more, but every year something happens to stop me from doing so. I have therefore reluctantly decided that I have to part with the bike and let someone else get the benefit.
The bike comes with 2 boxes full of new and used spare parts including gaskets, brackets, screws and bolts, 2 carburettors (one of them has only covered a few hundred miles from new) and various other fittings and bits and pieces. You will need a car to carry them away.
The bike is in excellent cosmetic and mechanical condition as per the images, but has been gathering dust in the garage and will clean up even better! It had new oil and filter a few hundred miles ago. Current mileage is 14450 and the bike has an MOT to 31 March 2027.
The bike is available to view and to see started up from cold and running in Anstruther, Fife.
