A Stunning ZX7R a real head turner, conversation starter and always gets a crowd and often people taking photos. Its a difficult one to value really as its extradinaraly good, I guess its worth whatever someone is willing to pay for such a rare condition bike. Great bike for bike meets and bike shows. In fact you see its got a tag on it in some of the pictures, that was it in a local classic bike show compitition where people voted on the bikes. It won a prize for best classic sports bike that year.
The bike is for sale elsewhere, so if you want it, I suggest you make an offer or buy sooner rather than later as it could be removed at any point. If you want one of these iconic bikes, Its prob going to be a, first see, will buy machine.
Dont be afraid to make a Offer of whatever you think you would want to pay within reason – but i am pretty flexible. The bike is being sold to the highest offer whatever that might end up being. So put your offer in to have any chance. I would like to see it go to someone who is going to look after it as i have, and perhaps knows a bit about these lovely carbed machines, it would be a real shame to see someone tear it apart for parts to sell.
So what to say about it.
Firstly it all works perfectly. You can collect this and ride it home to any part of the country without concern.
Its got 36,600 miles on, which is great for its age, these engines are well known to see really high millages, so 36k is nothing really.
Just had, oil change, valve check and adjustment done, new spark plugs and carbs just cleaned. A total service. You can see its a beutifully maintained machine. I love to bring bikes up to perfect condition, and having owned 26 bikes, written books on touring and bike restoring, I find as much enjoyment in keeping a bike at perfect condition as i do from riding the machines themselves. I tell you what, i will even include a signed copy of my book for the buyer.
Its also had a new raidiator (the old one was starting to look a bit rough after 30 years) and fancy green pipes fitted, and a brand new battery. The fuel pumps had new internals, to maintain original parts, rather than replacing with chinese cheap stuff. All the fuel and oil hoses throughout the bike are brand new. Again recepits to prove all this.
As such nothing needs to be spent on the machine, in terms of running or engine, for the entire year to come.
But it would benfit from the following:
Could do with brakes being bled as they are feeling less than optimal, this is a job I have meant to get too, but just have not had the time so far. But still perfectly good to use, Im still using it at the weekends, you be fine to use it all year. Its a job that would be nice to do, and would improve the overall feel.
Rear tyre is getting thin, you will need a new rear tyre pretty soon. Plus im still riding it on nice days, and if i go out, i always go for over 100 miles. So it will continue to be used until its sold. So you will need a new rear tyre soon.
Green chain is in fine condition, loads of life left on it.
V5 present, Loads of receipts from a local garage dating back 10 years with the prior owner who had the bike from 2015. Prior to that
some sparadic paperwork, but not all. so its a partial history machine at best, obviously all the MOTS are online to confirm the milage.
I should warm you of this, The exhaust pipe is a bit loud for me, its legal and passes MOT but maybe its my age, i do find its a bit noisy for my taste. I was going to replace it for a full size black carbon one if i were to keep it. but this is just personal taste.
It really is a real stunner all around, one of the best examples of 90s classic superbikes.
Obviously no test rides, if you crash it how will you ever repair it to the same standards, it would be impossible. So even more reason to not let joy rides. When you see the bike you understand its stunning all around and instantly see how its been looked after.
Im not sure what else to say about it really. For the money i dont think you will find a machine that will attract as much attention as this bike. Their also going up in value these days. I think, if you kept it in this stunning condition, for anouther 10 years it could be worth a fortune. I mean this could be kept in a collection really.
As i say I still riding it so millage will go up a bit. Reason for sale is simple, Im getting older. Spent many years under peoples stairs fitting meters, my knees and back are just not the same anymore, and not happy after a couple hours on this bike. I looking for something far more relaxed, a slow thumping cruiser or perhaps a royle enfield bear to see me into my later years
It was previously listed, i ended it as decided i could not part with it lol. then i rode it again and my back had other ideas. So now its listed again.
