Yamaha XTZ 750 Super Tenere 1989
I bought this bike a few years ago, stripped it down to the frame, and restored it back to good working condition. It has an MOT till November, and is in great condition underneath, with just a few cosmetic marks and a couple of non original parts.
I am unsure of exact mileage unfortunately, the clocks are not original since the bike did not come with them, and MOT history is very sparse, the bike had spent a lot of time off the road. The engine was also swapped for an identical one by a previous owner, but runs really nice. Original engine is also listed, if you buy the bike you can have it for free as well as any of the random spare I have for it.
Since restoration, I’ve only done about 100 miles on the bike, it run nicely but is just too tall and heavy for me, hence selling it.
The major work I’ve done is as follows:
- Stripped to bare frame
- Frame checked over, cleaned up, professionally powder coated
- Wheels replaced with 2nd hand rims and hubs, powder coated and respoked from central wheels
- New Avon tyres fitted
- New wheel bearings fitted front and rear
- Front forks oil and seals replaced
- New fork gaiters
- Replacement fairings
- 3D printed rear lid due to lack of availability
- New chain and sprockets
- All brake callipers rebuilt or replaced, new pads fitted. Discs cleaned up and checked
- Wiring harness cleaned up, tape reapplied
- Saddle reupholstered
- Vacuum Scot oiler fitted
- Carbs stripped and rebuilt
- New fuel lines and taps
- New fuel pump
- Fuel tank stripped, welded, and repainted by Greg’s Custom Paint – small bubble under sticker annoyingly
- Replacement clocks found and fitted – Kilometres unfortunately
- LED indicators fitted
- New hoses
- Every part has been checked, cleaned and refurbed/painted before being fitted
Video is a complete cold start after a couple months non running. Had to drain old fuel, but as seen started on the second try with fresh E5. Will cut out on throttle for the first minute of running from cold, but once it started to warm runs smooth and revs fine, restarts on first go. I do have another video of it running once warm, but can only upload one to eBay.
Any questions you have please send me a message and I’ll get back to you asap. I don’t cary my phone at work so will try and call back soon as I can.
