1986 Yamaha XT350 Unfinished Project

20K Miles

Everything is 100% there

For sale is my Yamaha XT350 Unfinished project.

I bought it as a complete bike last year after it had been stood in a Barn in Scotland for many years. It was scruffy but more or less everything was there. I have now sourced the few missing parts.

Once I got it home I used a dummy tank and a new battery and spark plug and it started up easily. It ran very well. It selects all gears and the lights etc all worked. (I can send a video of it running before it was stripped if interested)

My intention was to get it running and do a complete restoration.

Unfortunately lack of space and work commitments mean I will not get chance to complete and have to move it on.

Where I am up to:

The bike was stripped and everything thoroughly bagged and labelled. Every nut/bolt/fixing is in a zippy bag labelled with exact location.

The Frame/Swing Arm/Shock Spring/Handlebars/Engine Brackets/Foot Rests/Side Stand/Top Yoke/Kick start/Engine Brackets and rear rack were sent off for Powder coating.

The bike now stands at Picture 1 with the painted engine in the newly powder coated frame with the refurbed rear shock and swing arm. The other pictures of the whole bike are when I got it.

The rest of the bike needs assembling. The front forks are nice and straight, the wheel rims are in great condition, however the spokes need a good clean and the hubs need painting.

The speedo is excellent and I have sourced a very good tacho as the original one was damaged.

The Tank is clean inside and will have a nice patina with a good polish. I was intending to re paint it. The side panels and mudguards and headlight cowel are the same.

The V5 is in my name.

It has the original key

It comes with a manual and several spares including a New set of indicators, new tacho cable, full set of Stainless engine bolts, new battery, spark plug, clutch cover gasket and generator cover gasket plus a new coil as the old one looked a bit crusty.

This will make a great project to compete for someone and will be a valuable bike when done.

Everything is 100% there to complete.

I am looking for a decent 1970’s CB350/450 or something similar so happy to discuss a PX if you have one!
