YAMAHA RD 400 DAYTONA SPECIAL, AMERICAN IMPORT.
Only 5,000 were produced in 1979 as Yamaha’s last hurrah, aimed mainly at the Canadian, American & Australian markets very few entered Europe, I purchased this bike in December 2016 fitted with D&G exhausts and the odometer showing 7616 miles, sadly due to work commitments it was put in my motorcycle museum along with my other bikes and hardly used (odometer now showing 7709) the bike has recently been Recommissioned by a classic bike engineer having a new battery, all oils changed, brake fluids changed, carburettors dismantled & ultra sonically cleaned, synchronised, runs really nicely, this bike has a very rare fork brace & steering damper fitted, this is not a minter, just a nice example of the Daytona special.
I have been asked several times if it has matching numbers, Yes this is a matching number bike, also TAX & MOT exempt
