1972 Puch Maxi S Moped

This is a pretty much immaculate rebuilt Puch Maxi S registered in 1972 and therefore Tax, MoT, ULEZ, Congestion Zone exempt.

Incredibly cheap to run and insure.

Despite the fact it is MoT exempt, in the interest of safety I had a proper MoT done on * Nov 2023 and it passed without any advisories. It is daytime only MoT as the high beam doesn’t work, but low beam and rear are fine (switch problem I think) but I was more concerned with brakes, suspension and structural integrity. Frame and wheels are as straight as a die.

A great many new parts including:

Full repaint of frame in original purple and the alloy wheels as you can see are in yellow. Mudguards in metallic silver.

New main bearings and seals on the crank and main gear.

New tyres, inner tubes, both chains (engine and pedal sides).

New speedo, shows 2 miles, the distance from my house to the MoT station and back. Don’t know the original mileage, but pretty irrelevant given the extensive overhaul.

Carburettor has had full overhaul of seals and jets.

New exhaust downpipe, silencer is an original Puch item in very good condition.

Most of the cables are new

New rear shock absorbers, front suspension fully overhauled with new bushes.

Funky chopper style seat, again a new item.

New rear luggage rack.

New steering head bearings.

Brakes very good with new linings on the front brake, will need bedding in.

New ignition points, generator in good condition. Starts easily.

One negative is that it does not have matching handlebar grips, I am looking for an original to get them to match!

I have the V5C in my name, registered as a ‘Historic Vehicle’.

I have probably forgotten more that has been done to this moped, but it is an absolute gem.

Would be great and very easy to take to classic vehicle shows. Would look fabulous being carried on the back of a camper van, classic or modern!
