200cc with 4 speed foot change
This is the actual 1958 Velocette LE featured on the TV show Shed and Buried (Series 4 Episode 15). I have the old V5 in Henry Cole’s name. I know he’s a bit of a Marmite character but if you like the show it’s a point of interest. If you don’t like the show, it’s still a nice little bike!
For the show the frame and metalwork were powder coated, so it will never be a concourse bike. Also, some parts were cleaned and spray painted. It’s not a bike for the restoration purists.
What I’ve done to it:
Carb overhauled
Modern coil fitted.
New batteries (2 x 2Ah in parallel)
New condenser.
What still needs attention:
Rear tyre is the wrong size
Main stand needs overhauling
Starts easily and runs well. A lovely smooth bike to ride. It was bought for my partner (V5 in her name). Unfortunately she has lost her confidence and is no longer enjoying riding it.
