Fitted with an extremely rare futuristic coeval muffler, also the Chimera come with an original luggage rack

After the WWII in Italy people needed cheap vehicles for moving and restart life and business. In those years any motorcycles company started to build small displacement motorcycle: 75/100 cc. After few years the economic situation became better and market asked for more powerful motorcycles. The perfect solution was the 175cc, ideal balance between price and performance. Not least the fact that there were many road races around the country extremely popular . All the motorcycles companies started to build a 175 cc: Moto Guzzi, Morini, Parilla, Benelli, Mondial, Gilera, MV Agusta, Motobi, Ducati, Comet, Bianchi ecc. There was a challenge for the best 175 in the market

In this context the Aermacchi Chimera was born, the star of the 1956 Milan motorcycle show

A very innovative and futuristic bike. Aermacchi was famous for its aircraft and the design recalled the aeronautical style. Totally Fairing. Styled by Mario Revelli a famous car designer. Innovative was the rear suspension with a monoshock hidden under the seat. The bodywork is in one piece aluminium cast alloy.

Unfortunately was a failure : too much futuristic, hide the engine was not a good idea at that time, market was not yet ready
