AJS 18CS 1956 – Daytona Beach Racer (Matchless, Desert Sled, Scrambler, USA)
1956 AJS Model 18/CS (Beach Racer)with V5C This fantastic AJS 18CS competition beach racer was imported from Florida USA in 2017 and sympathetically restored by us (last 2 photo are before restoration). It is fitted with an original factory all aluminium competition engine which has a very rare twin plug cylinder head and new competition exhaust. Amal 389 carburettor and Lucas competition magneto. The AMC gearbox has been serviced and selects all gears and has a smooth action. The rolling chassis is fitted with pre-65 type scramble handlebars with original Amal completion levers and quick action Gunner gasser throttle. The wheels have been fitted with new tyre, the front is a Mitas E05 400 x 19 and rear a Kenda Track Master 110/90/19. New chains and cables have been fitted. The primary chaincase has the correct removable clutch dome and original competition footrests are fitted. It retains some original transfers and labels which confirm that it was inspected by the State of Florida and suggest that it may have taken part or attended the Florida Beach races. This is a very unique and rare bike and motorcycles like this do not come along very often. The bike comes with a dating certificate from the AJS and Matchless Owners Club and a current V5C registration document as well as the original USA title document. Any question please ask.
