1954 Matchless G80S 500cc restoration project

I bought this bike as it is in 2013 as a restoration project. Other projects have got in the way and it’s time to let someone else take it on.

It’s largely complete and I’m not aware of any major missing components but please see the images as these show all the parts I have.

It was imported by Burton Bike Bits in 1992 (I have the certificate) and registered as PVS 180.

There is also a dating certificate and valuation from the VMCC both dated 1992 (See pics).

There are two barrels and a +060 piston. The piston is too large to fit into either barrel. I haven’t measured these but can get the bore gauge out if required – please ask if you need this info. There is also a spare petrol tank which, from the part number, was from a WD model but it looks virtually identical to the original.

There is also a dismantled bottom end from a 1950 S model which I’ve placed separately on the other side of the bike.
